10 players who could move in the January Transfer Window

Last updated : 29 September 2011 By DSG

The name on everyone's lips after an apparent 'misunderstanding' according to Tevez led to the impression that the Manchester City player refused to come on as a sub in the 2-0 defeat against Munich in the Champions League. Mancini was in no doubt there was no confusion on the bench and angrily stated "Can you imagine a Bayern Munich, Milan or Man United player doing this? If we want to improve as a team Carlos can't play with us. With me, he is finished."

The player is now suspended whilst the club investigates their options.

At the end of the previous transfer window, Carlos Tevez reluctantly revealed he'd have to stay with Manchester City for a while longer.

Tevez must now be sure to leave in January with potential suitors already lining up across Europe with Italy mentioned strongly and of course there is always Corinthians if they can now afford him.

2. Ibrahim Afellay, Barcelona

Linked to: Liverpool, Spurs, Juventus

Has struggled to cement a regular place in the Barcelona team and with all the competition for places in the squad a move would be good for his career.

Juventus reportedly offered 8 million Euro's during the transfer window but was rejected and they face competition from Liverpool and Spurs if reports prove true.

3. Adam Johnson, Manchester City

Linked to: Everton, Liverpool

Johnson is a quality young player that despite his injury will struggle to get playing time, especially after the arrival of Nasri.

Probably a matter of time before Johnson looks at his options but January is looking increasingly unlikely.

4. Salomon Kalou, Chelsea

Linked to: Lille

Salomon Kalou is starting to fall out of favour and his daft handball in the Champions League agaianst Valencia will not have helped his cause

5. Roman Pavlyuchenko, Tottenham Hotspur

Linked to: Sporting Lisbon, CSKA Moscow

According to reports, Pavlyuchenko was a Spurs wantaway during the last transfer window, with Sporting Lisbon and CSKA looking like potential destinations.

The Russian was also reportedly unhappy with recent signings and a January move looks a certainty.

6. Danilo Pereira, Parma

Linked to: Liverpool, Arsenal

Liverpool and Arsenal were both reportedly interested in signing Parma's Danilo Pereira during the summer.

It didn't happen then, but the Portuguese midfielder could be on the move in January.

7. Florent Malouda, Chelsea

Linked to: Bayern Munich

Chelsea is undergoing changes, with the squad expecting a major overhaul over the next season or two.

One player likely to be on the way out is winger Florent Malouda. FoxSports says Bayern Munich is lining up a January bid.

8. Sergio Busquets, Barcelona

Linked to: Manchester City

This report says Manchester City is set to offer Barcelona ?35 million for the services of Sergio Busquets.

It remains to be seen why Busquets would want to trade Barcelona for Manchester.

9. Dimitar Berbatov, Manchester United

Linked to: Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Newcastle United, Sevilla, Tottenham Hotspur

Dimitar Berbatov hasn't had many opportunities to play for Manchester United this season, and he's apparently trying to secure a move away from Old Trafford.

Metro.co.uk that the Bulgarian will demand a transfer in January despite manager Sir Alex Ferguson's claims that Berbatov is still in his plans. Metro lists Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich as possible destinations.

10. Wesley Sneijder, Inter Milan

Linked to: Manchester United

Wesley Sneijder and Manchester United were whispering sweet nothings all summer. At one point it was reported that Sneijder had actually signed but this of course proved not to be the case.

Speculation will ignite again throughout the autumn and into January I expect.
