History of City at home to Chelsea

Chelsea may be runaway leaders of the Premiership right now but City have the edge when the two sides have met in Manchester. Of the 63 games played, the Sky Blues have recorded 29 wins and Chelsea have come away with 18.

Our most recent home encounter with Chelsea was October 2004 when Nicolas Anelka's first-half penalty was enough for us to earn a 1-0 win and inflict Chelsea's only league defeat of last season - and we almost did the double over Chelsea when we travelled to Stamford Bridge later last season. Can we give them another shock?

Recent form guides

City have lost just once and won 6 times in their last 6 home games. These high-scoring games have yielded a total of 11 goals for the Blues, with 4 goals against.

City were beaten 4-3 at Wigan on Boxing Day but having had 14 shots on target to Wigan's 5, we could easily have had at least a draw instead.

As well as losing on their last away game against City, Chelsea lost their only league game of the season so far over at United at the start of November.

The leaders have won each of their 6 league games since, although Fulham gave them a tough game on Boxing Day, coming back from 2 down before losing 3-2.

City go into the game 8th position, 4 points behind Bolton in 5th, while Chelsea are 9 points clear of United at the top of the table.

FootyMad's prediction ...

How will Chelsea cope if City attack like we have done during most of our home games this season? I think we'll give them plenty to worry about, and although I think another win might be a bit too hopeful, I do think we're capable of grabbing a draw. Score draw

Sequence statistics:
CityNot drawn a match in their last 5 .
Chelsea3 successive away victories (inc. CL).
Won each of their previous 6 league matches.
