Feature: Keegan must block Wanchope exit

I mean, look at Monaco - going on about how much they want Anelka but in reality, they're in no position to sign him. How they thought we'd let our top striker go on a year's loan without even receiving a fee is beyond me.

...come back with £10m and we'll think about it.

Besides, we can't afford to lose Anelka with our squad so thin. But the same can be said for any of our senior strikers, including Wanchope.

He may be infuriating at times, but he's always capable of a goal and makes adequate short-term cover for either Anelka or Fowler, so is well worth having in the squad. Therefore I'm surprised that the club have even thought about allowing him to leave.

Wanchope's statement (see Latest News) shows he wants to move, and that doesn't surprise me as deep down footballers are also thinking about themselves first, but after all, he's still under contract.

Furthermore, Keegan has talked about bringing in a fifth senior striker, so why is he about to let one leave?

I might understand if we were getting a decent fee - anything in excess of the £3.65m we paid for him would be nice - but there seems to be no fee involved at the moment. This is the only way we should allow Wanchope to leave but something tells me that's not going to happen.

So, if all this is true, I urge Keegan to think again, and demand to know what the hell he's playing at!
