Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League table after defeating Sunderland 5-3 in a breathless encounter at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The victory extends City's perfect start to five consecutive league wins under Enzo Maresca, capitalising on Arsenal's defeat 24 hours earlier.
City opened the scoring inside ten minutes through an inventive free kick from Enzo Fernandez, but Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey responded immediately.
Rayan Cherki restored City's advantage before Brobbey levelled again. Antoine Semenyo struck on either side of the interval to put City 4-2 up, only for Brobbey to complete a sensational hat-trick just before the hour mark.
The Black Cats pressed hard for an equaliser, but Erling Haaland sealed the points in the 81st minute, ensuring he has now scored against every Premier League opponent he has faced.
City head into the extended international window leading the Premier League on 15 points, three ahead of Arsenal.
