How Bayern Munich Are Trying to Reduce Leroy Sane Price & Secure Summer Deal

Bayern Munich have employed a new tactic in their chase of Manchester City forward Leroy Sane this summer, with a deal 'still likely'.

Sane had looked destined to make the switch to Bavaria before the start of the 2019/20 campaign, but the torn ACL he sustained in his side's Community Shield victory over Liverpool back in August thwarted a potential move.

Bayern, though, remain keen on adding the 24-year-old to their squad, but the two clubs are currently some distance apart in their valuation of the player.

Sane is back in training

City are currently holding out for €70m for the German, with Die Roten willing to offer just €40m at this stage.

But according to Sky Sports Germany, Bayern have an idea to potentially lower Sane's price.

With the winger's contract at the Etihad expiring at the end of the next season, Die Roten have argued in negotiations that they can talk to the player from January to discuss a potential switch next summer, which, of course, would be on a free transfer.

And so, if Sane was to move to the Allianz following the conclusion of his City contract, the German would have greater leverage concerning wage demands and signing bonuses, considering Bayern wouldn't have to pay a significant fee for his services.

Despite this pressure put on by the Bavarians, the report also notes that a 'quick agreement' isn't in sight, but a deal this summer still appears likely.

Bayern won't sign Sane at 'any price' amid the financial strains brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and are hopeful the Citizens will reduce their asking price closer to Die Roten's valuation.

City have considered a deal that would bring Alaba to the Etihad as part of the Sane transfer

90min reported back in May that City were considering offering Sane as part of a deal for David Alaba, who would replace Benjamin Mendy as Pep Guardiola's starting left back.

If the City star was to make the switch to the Allianz, he'd be joining a side who many regard as the finest outfit on the planet following Hansi Flick's November arrival. Sane's skill set should help him thrive in Flick's system, but he'll certainly have to make some adjustments if he's to evolve into a superstar.
