UEFA Cup group stage drawn

German side Schalke are the seeded team in Group A after reaching the quarter-finals of last season's Champions League and won the UEFA Cup in 1997.

Paris St Germain remain one of the top clubs in France but have been far from their prime in recent years.

City were the third team drawn in the group, followed by Spanish side Racing Santander, who are playing in their first UEFA Cup camaign after finishing 6th in last season's La Liga.

And the final team in the group is Dutch side FC Twente, managed by former England boss Steve McClaren, who were hammered by Arsenal in the Champions League qualifiers.

Two of the games at are at home and two away, and the fixtures will be confirmed later today.

Tottenham are in Group D with Spartak Moscow, Udinese, Dinamo Zagreb and NEC Nijmegen.

Portsmouth have been drawn with AC Milan in Group E, along with Heerenveen, Braga and Wolfsburg.

As the 4th seed, Aston Villa have had a tough draw in Group F, where they will face Hamburg, Ajax, Slavia Prague and MSK Zilina.
