Twitter Reacts as United's Derby Win Over City Paints Manchester Red Again

Manchester United picked up a huge 2-0 derby victory over rivals Manchester City, moving closer to the Premier League top-four while also picking up bragging rights to the delight of the home support at Old Trafford.

City goalkeeper Ederson made two crucial errors that allowed both Anthony Martial and substitute Scott McTominay to score.

The Red Devils will be overjoyed by a hard-fought win that means they now are just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the race to secure Champions League qualification.

Both managers had injuries affect their team selections before the match. Despite prior concerns over Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka's fitness, Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær was able to select both in his starting eleven.

On the other hand, Pep Guardiola was unable to call on the services of Kevin De Bruyne, and picked 19-year-old Phil Foden in his place.

And these calls had fans pre-game talking before the game kicked off...

And nerves among the Red Devils' defence started to show when Raheem Sterling's curling effort was palmed away by David De Gea in the opening stages...

Yet it soon became apparent that City's defence was equally as vulnerable, with Daniel James and Anthony Martial forcing Ederson into action. The mounting pressure paid off soon enough, when Martial's side-foot effort from Bruno Fernandes' free-kick rolled past the goalkeeper's hands into the net, much to United fans' delight...

Fans of the Red Devils felt they should have got a penalty when Fred was tripped by Nicolas Otamendi towards the end of the first-half. Even champion Jamaican sprinter and Man Utd fan Usain Bolt weighed in...

After the half-time break, City striker Sergio Agüero thought he had equalised for the away side, only for his goal to be ruled out for offside...

And the introductions of both Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus provided hope for fans of the Sky Blues as they tried to get back into the game...

With time running out, frustration amongst the away support started to grow when Sterling couldn't divert a cross past De Gea.

United proceeded to defend like their lives depended on it, with City pushing for an equaliser as the game neared the end...

But it was the home side who sealed the win, with substitute McTominay taking advantage of another Ederson error to score and seal the win for the Red Devils.

With the final whistle confirming United's win, fans (including Bolt) reacted to the huge win for the Red Devils with delight and sheer joy.
