Tottenham vs Manchester City Preview: How to Watch on TV, Live Stream, Kick Off Time & Team News

Tottenham play host to current champions Manchester City this Sunday evening in one of the  weekend's most high-profile clashes.

In a game that seemingly always produces drama, Spurs will be hopeful of upsetting the balance once more, as Jose Mourinho battles with Pep Guardiola in an encounter that promises plenty of fireworks. The hosts come in to this in questionable form having won just one of their previous five league matches, but still sitting just six points off the top four.

Meanwhile, City have been unable to compete with Liverpool for the majority of the season, and the Reds' midweek victory means they're now 19 points clear of their title rivals - a lead that could be stretched to 22 points before this game kicks off.

However, Guardiola's side managed to secure their place in the Carabao Cup final for a third successive season on Wednesday, despite losing to Manchester United at home in the second leg. Before that clash, City had won seven of their previous eight matches in all competitions and look set to finish the season with little to play for in the league.

Here is 90min's preview of this mouthwatering clash...

Team News

Christian Eriksen's departure for Inter may open the door for Gedson Fernandes' first Premier League start, while new signing Steven Bergwijn could feature following his recent move from PSV Eindhoven. Mourinho is still, however, without the first-team trio of Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Ben Davies.

Gedson Fernandes

Aymeric Laporte could return to the starting lineup having been dropped from Man City's midweek match, while Benjamin Mendy and Fernandinho are slight doubts for the trip to the capital but should be fit to play some part.

Guardiola will have been buoyed by the return of Leroy Sane to training, however, this game will come too soon for the German international.

Predicted Lineups

Tottenham Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Tanganga, Vertonghen; Lo Celso, Winks, Alli; Lucas, Son
Manchester City Ederson; Walker, Fernandinho, Laporte, Zinchenko; Rodri, De Bruyne, Gundogan; B.Silva, Aguero, Sterling

Head-to-Head Record

This will be the 161st meeting between these two giants of English football, with the first contest between the sides dating back to 1909. Both clubs have enjoyed relatively similar success in this fixture, with City just edging the meetings with 63 victories to Spurs' 61, while there have been 36 draws.

Kevin De Bruyne,Kyle Walker-Peters

The reverse fixture controversially finished 2-2 earlier in the season, with Gabriel Jesus' last-minute winner ruled out for handball by VAR. Spurs would undoubtedly be pleased with a similar scoreline this time around.

Recent Form

Despite an immediate upturn in form following Mourinho's arrival, Tottenham have been far from their best in recent weeks. The Lilywhites sit in sixth, six points off Chelsea in fourth, and could slump to ninth come the end of the weekend.

More worryingly, Spurs' defence has been a liability this season, keeping just a single clean sheet in their last 12 matches - not a great sign when the league's top scorers are coming in to town. The north London side have won just two of their last seven in the league, and have lost to both Chelsea and Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since mid-December.

Gabriel Jesus

City's form is a pretty stark contrast, although it has been nowhere near their usual high standards. The Sky Blues have lost just one of their last eight league games - partly due to an early Ederson red card at Wolves - and have moved 17 points clear of Spurs.

One man Spurs will have to be especially wary of is Sergio Aguero, who has scored six goals in his last three Premier League appearances.

Here is how each side has fared in their last five outings in all competitions:

Tottenham Manchester City
Southampton 1-1 Tottenham (25/1) Manchester City 0-1 Manchester United (29/1)
Tottenham 2-1 Norwich (22/1) Manchester City 4-0 Fulham (26/1)
Watford 0-0 Tottenham (18/1) Sheffield United 0-1 Manchester City (21/1)
Tottenham 2-1 Middlesbrough (14/1) Manchester City 2-2 Crystal Palace (18/1)
Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool (11/1) Aston Villa 1-6 Manchester City (12/1)

Prediction

This game always produces moments of magic or drama, with VAR having reared its ugly head one too many times for City's liking in the recent history of this fixture. Hopefully, the football will do the talking come Sunday evening.

One would imagine Mourinho will set his side up with a low block, limiting any space for the prosperous City attacking line, and employing similar tactics as demonstrated in Spurs' 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in early January.

Sergio Aguero

However, City are used to facing stubborn defences, and Tottenham's back line haven't been covering themselves in glory recently. You would be brave to bet against City finding the back of the net on more than just the one occasion.

Prediction: Tottenham 1-3 Manchester City
