Sergio Agüero's Agent Responds to Rumours of Imminent Move Away From Manchester City

The agent of Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero has rubbished rumours the Argentine could walk away from the Etihad Stadium this summer.

The 31-year-old will enter the final year of his contract this next season, prompting rumours that he could be sold, and City's potential exclusion from the Champions League as a result of their two-year ban has only intensified such stories.

A report from Nicolò Schira recently suggested that both Inter and Real Madrid had been in contact with Agüero's agent, Hernán Reguera, to see whether a summer transfer would be possible, but Reguera insisted to FCInterNews that such a move is off the table.

“Sergio has a contract with Manchester City until 2021, and there is no chance of him leaving before that,” Reguera said. “We'll see what happens after that.

"I haven't spoken to Inter, and the reason is very simple: Agüero is happy with the Cityzens and has no intention of changing club.”

Well, that's that then.

Back in January, it was revealed that City are prepared to give Agüero the freedom to decide on his next move as a reward for his years of record-breaking service to the team.

He will be 33 years old by the time his current deal expires, and that is said to be a 'natural end point' to his time at the Etihad, so it seems like everyone is preparing for the prolific Argentine to walk away in the summer of 2021.

Agüero's agent has left the door open to a move away from City at that point, and there will likely be no shortage of offers. A switch to Major League Soccer or a return to Argentina could be on the cards, but there will almost certainly be countless opportunities to remain in Europe as well.

Back in 2019, Agüero insisted that a return to Independiente is his 'priority', and given he is approaching the end of his career, the end of his current contract may be his final opportunity to make the move.
