Sergio Agúero Overtakes Thierry Henry to Go Joint Fourth in All-Time Premier League Scorer Standings

That Sergio Agúero, eh? He might be in his 30s, he might be looking over his shoulder at injuries beginning to catch up with him, and he might have one of the most promising young strikers on the continent breathing down his neck.

But as far as the goals go, he's not slowing down for anyone.

With yet another hat trick in City's rampant win over Aston Villa, the Argentine took his tally for the season to a very on-brand 18 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions, marking another stellar individual season - even if his side are failing in general to meet their own impossibly high standards.

He's been one of the most consistent performers of the modern era in the Premier League, and isn't that just reflected in his overall tally.

He went into what looked like a tricky game at Villa as the division's sixth top scorer of all time, on 174 - one behind Arsenal legend Thierry Henry's tally.

But just under an hour of football later, in scoring his second and City's fifth goal at Villa Park, he leapfrogged the Frenchman to put himself into fifth in the all-time standings.

And when he thumped in his hat trick goal just after the 80th minute, he put himself level with Frank Lampard's tally of 177 - meaning he is now joint-fourth in the all-time scoring stakes.

He also now holds the record for most Premier League hat tricks outright with 12, having previously been tied with Alan Shearer on 11.

It's by no means unfeasible to imagine him catching Andrew Cole's tally of 187 in the foreseeable future, and the way he is going, you also wouldn't be hugely surprised to see him catch up with Wayne Rooney's career total of 208.

However, Shearer's 260 Premier League goals does look like a tally that is safe, even from the formidable Agúero.
