However, the US international, who scored the final goal in City's 6-2 drubbing of Bolton, can't guarantee a regular goal contribution from himself.

"It was good to get a big win at the City of Manchester Stadium. I think what everyone has been saying is that we have played well but not been able to get that big result.

"Finally against Bolton Wanderers we got the result which the fans I think have been waiting for. I think it sends a message out too that finally the new stadium is becoming like home."

The midfielder added: "I think now after the win over Bolton we can aim to make the stadium a fortress and every time that teams come here they will know that they will have a difficult time to get anything."

Visitors will certainly find it difficult if City can reproduce the goalscoring form displayed at the weekend, with goals coming from various sources.

"It is important for teams to score goals from all areas of the pitch. Shaun got two on Saturday, Sylvain got one and I got one," said Reyna, who laid on City's third.

"We can't always rely on the forwards and Nicolas Anelka to get all the goals for us. Scoring from other areas takes the weight of his shoulders."

The former Sunderland man scored 4 in 29 games for the Black Cats, and although he grabbed his first City goal on Saturday, he knows he won't be chipping in every week.

"I don't set myself targets for the number of goals to score in a season. I try to create as many chances as possible," Reyna added.

"With every game it is a little bit different. As a midfielder sometimes you can get forward more, sometimes I have to do more defensive work. So it is all down to the type of match it is and the role I am playing that particular day."
