Premier League Players Returning From Injury That Can Be the Difference in the Run-In

We've been without the Premier League for what feels like an eternity now. Players and fans alike have been stuck in limbo as lockdown swept the nation this spring, grinding footy to an unwelcome halt.

However, with English top-flight football set to return this week again, one thing the unplanned break has been positive for is allowing some key stars extra time to return from injury.

Here's a look at some of the previously sidelined players that are set for a return as the Premier League prepares to restart with a bang.

Marcus Rashford

One thing we've learned about Marcus Rashford during quarantine is that he is an absolute top bloke.

Having missed 13 games with a back injury sustained earlier in the year, the 22-year-old has been filling his time with charity work and activism during the pandemic.

Manchester United fans have been pleasantly surprised by the form of Odion Ighalo in the absence of Rashford, though will be eager to see their main man return to action.

United are, of course, still locked in that six-way battle for the last Champions League spot and the timely return of Rashford - who will be looking to add to his career-best 14 Premier League goals - is exactly the kind of boost they need to help them over the line.

Paul Pogba

Having made just eight appearances for United this season, the Red Devils have spent the most part of the season without arguably their biggest star.

With the introduction of Bruno Fernandes in January, United fans are practically foaming at mouth over the prospect of a pairing with Paul Pogba.

Now with the Premier League ready to start back up again, the World Cup winner has been declared fit to play (though he might not start the first game back) and all eyes will be on the new-look United midfield.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane strikes a shot at goal against Burnley

The news that Harry Kane was to undergo potentially season-ending surgery on his hamstring back in January was a crushing to Tottenham fans, who have had quite the comedown campaign following the highs of 2018/19.

However, the hiatus has allowed their star striker and talisman a chance to get back in time for the delayed remainder of the campaign.

Kane has scored at least 20 league goals in four of his last five full campaigns and his ruthlessness and leadership will be sorely needed for Spurs, who had lost five out of six before the break.

With 11 goals so far, if Kane can hit the ground running, he even has an outside shot at the Golden Boot... albeit a very slim one.

Son Heung-Min

News of Kane's injury was bad enough, but when Son Heung-Min went down with a broken arm against Aston Villa in February, Spurs fans began to feel cursed.

With Kane out, the goalscoring burden was placed firmly on the shoulders of their second-most efficient forward in Son. Without either player, Tottenham looked practically buried in the hunt for European places.

Son Heung-Min Completes Military Training

After recovering from his fractured arm in lockdown, Son travelled to South Korea to complete his mandatory military service, where he even received the 'Pilsung' prize - an award given to top performers (insert sharpshooter joke here).

Leroy Sane

Having sustained a serious knee injury in the Community Shield final against Liverpool, Leroy Sane has gone down the long road to recovery.

Having completed the final stages of his rehabilitation period, Sane is now training with the first-team again, providing Pep Guardiola with a selection headache for the upcoming fixtures.

With Liverpool running away with the league, Manchester City will look to extend the gap between them and second-placed Leicester.

Sane's direct wing play and blistering place is something City have missed at times this season.
