Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has boasted that his record of winning eight trophies out of a possible nine at the Etihad Stadium may never be matched.
The Citizens clinched a third consecutive Carabao Cup with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, meaning they have now won eight of the last nine domestic competitions in which they have competed, with the 2017/18 FA Cup the only blotch on their record under the Catalan manager.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (via BBC Sport), Guardiola pointed out that the greatest teams in Premier League history have all failed to come close to that tally.
"Since we started to win, the last nine [domestic] competitions we played, we won eight," he said.
"Not even the biggest Liverpool in the 80s, the biggest Manchester United with Sir Alex Ferguson or José Mourinho, or Arsène Wenger [with Arsenal].

That wasn't the only time he spoke about his success. He later admitted (via The Sun) that City were setting a standard which young players coming through will all aspire to match.
“The important thing is that everyone knows we have responsibility to win the titles, eight from nine is something remarkable," he added. "We have won the last six. It is incredible. It would be so difficult for anyone to do it again — not just us but our opponents.
“What we’d like to give to this organisation for the future is, what we’ve done helps the club to know if we did it, they have to do it, to win titles as this group of players have done. Sergio Agüero
