Oleksandr Zinchenko open to Man City exit to fulfil midfield ambitions

Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko is open to leaving the Etihad this summer, but any interested clubs would have to promise him a future as a midfielder, 90min understands.

The Ukraine ace has become a key part of Pep Guardiola's squad in recent years, but he has spent almost all of his time playing as a left-back, despite spending the majority of his early years further up the field.

The 25-year-old has two years left on his current deal at City, who are ready to open talks over an extension. Zinchenko is known to be happy at City and has long been determined to become a regular at the club, having snubbed a move to Wolves in 2018 in favour of fighting for his place.

However, Zinchenko is now considering his future and sources have confirmed to 90min that he would be open to leaving City this summer if a club could offer him regular minutes in the midfield role in which he excels for Ukraine.

City are unable to guarantee Zinchenko any opportunities further forward, and a number of sides from across the continent have explored a possible transfer.

Interest from Wolves remains and the likes of Arsenal, Everton, Leicester and West Ham have all reached out to the player's representatives.

From overseas, clubs from Germany, France, Italy and Spain have all expressed an interest but much will depend on City's valuation of Zinchenko, which sources stress is in excess of £30m.
