Mauricio Pochettino & Brendan Rodgers Under Consideration at Man City if Pep Guardiola Leaves

Manchester City will consider moves for Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers if current manager Pep Guardiola decides to leave at the end of the season.

It was rumoured that the Catalan may consider walking away from the Etihad Stadium following a disappointing domestic campaign and the recent two-year ban from the Champions League has only added to that speculation.

As noted by The Telegraph, Guardiola is keeping a close eye on any developments with the club's situation, including the outcome of any future appeals, and he will make a decision about his future once things become clearer.

It seems entirely possible that he could quit, and if he does, then City will look to Pochettino and Rodgers as potential replacements.

Pochettino has earned plenty of fans at the Etihad following an impressive spell with Tottenham, while Rodgers has also attracted praise for his work with a youthful Leicester side this season.

Guardiola is under contract until 2021, but if he does quit a year early it is thought that Juventus would be ready to make a huge push to lure him to the Allianz Stadium in the summer, despite having hired Maurizio Sarri just last year.

Guardiola's departure is seemingly something which City are worried about. The Telegraph also add that an urgent meeting was called with all the squad, including Guardiola, just one hour after the guilty verdict was made official.

Chief executive Ferran Soriano wanted to brief everyone at the club about City's plans going forward, in the hope of convincing them that there is no need to quit the club in search of opportunities elsewhere.

Alongside Guardiola, the likes of Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne have been linked with exits, while there will almost certainly be countless other rumours as we approach the summer transfer window.

There has also been the suggestion that the club's 2014 Premier League title could be stripped away from them, with the Daily Mail claiming England's top flight could deduct points retrospectively.

The absence of income from the Champions League is expected to hit City hard, so if they fail with their appeal, then there is a good chance that some players may have to be sold.
