Manchester City Women have appointed Gareth Taylor as their new head coach on a three-year deal, finally filling the void left by Nick Cushing's departure.
Cushing had been the manager of the team since 2013 but left the club to become assistant manager to Ronny Deila at MLS outfit New York City FC. The former City boss had won six major trophies with the club but left in February to pursue a career across the pond.
Taylor's appointment comes as little surprise considering the 47-year-old played up front for the Sky Blues for three years and had since become an academy manager for the men's team.

As quoted by Manchester City's club website, Taylor stated: "I’m absolutely delighted to have joined Manchester City Women and I’m extremely excited about the challenge ahead with a very talented group of players and staff who have enjoyed a lot of success in recent years.
"I’m really honoured to have been appointed to this role and I can’t wait to get started with our preparations for another thrilling and competitive Barclays FA WSL season in 2020/21."
Alan Mahon had temporarily been in charge of the club as interim boss but will take his place as assistant manager upon Taylor's arrival.
This will be Welsh international Taylor's first head coach job and he arrives at City with the club sat in a fairly uncertain position. The WSL campaign was brought to an end on Monday as a result of the coronavirus with the outcome of promotion and relegation yet to be decided
The Sky Blues currently sit top of the WSL table, but should the league use a points-per-game ratio to determine the final standings, then Chelsea would leapfrog City to claim the title - due to the fact they have a game in hand over their rivals.
