Man City launch new Puma home kit inspired by 2011/12 title win

Manchester City have launched their new Puma home kit for the 2021/22 season, an all-sky blue strip that pays tribute to the club’s historic 2011/12 campaign and the moment Sergio Aguero scored the goal that won the Premier League with virtually the last kick of the season.

The time of the defining goal against QPR, which came with 93:20 of the game played, features on the new kit as an all-over repeated graphic of a digital clock.

The shirt, which is City’s third by Puma since the partnership began in 2019, features a white side panel and is paired with sky blue shorts and sky blue and white hooped socks, mimicking the overall 2011/12 look for a déjà vu-inducing throwback feel.

The minute of the famous goal is printed inside the collar

“Witnessing that moment is something I will never forget. When the goal went in, we knew we had just seen greatness, something special,” former player Micah Richards told ManCity.com.

“The league was hanging in the balance and then to secure it in the final minute, in that fashion, I don’t think will ever be replicated. The new kit is a perfect tribute to one of the greatest moments in City’s history.”

Even though he left the club at the end of last season after 10 glorious years in Manchester, Aguero himself was involved in a teaser for the new kit earlier this week.

The likes of Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Kyle Walker, Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne, as well as women’s team players Caroline Weir, Abby Dahlkemper and Jess Park have also all been featured in the official launch.
