Manchester City winger Leroy Sané has changed agents, but a clause in his contract with his previous representatives means that the German cannot enter into any negotiations over contracts or transfers for three months.
The 24-year-old, who has been sidelined since the start of the season with a knee injury, has just 18 months remaining on his current contract, and City want to tie him down to fresh terms as soon as possible to fend off interest from long-term admirers Bayern Munich.
Sané left DB Ventures in early January in favour of joining LIAN Sports, but according to Sport Bild, the winger had a three month notice clause with his former agents which means he cannot officially sign with LIAN Sports until 1 April.
With no active agent, City cannot open any negotiations with Sané and they must wait until the winger's contract with LIAN Sports kicks in.
The news will certainly come as a huge blow to the Citizens. A source has told 90min that Sané is eager to get a move to Bayern over the line, and this delay in contract negotiations will likely harm City's chances of keeping him.
Sané feels as though he has been underused at the Etihad Stadium, with both Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva keeping him out of the team, and he wants to move to a club who are prepared to give him the regular game time he feels he deserves.
He started just 21 Premier League games last season, and Sané fears his development could be stunted if he is not a consistent starter.
City have effectively accepted that Sané will agree a move to Bayern sooner or later, with Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal singled out as an ideal replacement.
The Bundesliga side rejected the opportunity to move for Sané in January amid concerns over his current fitness. He has only recently returned to training after suffering a serious knee injury, and Bayern want to make sure he can get back to his best before committing to a move.
