Kevin De Bruyne eager for more European success with Manchester City

De Bruyne settled a compelling quarter-final in City's favour, 3-2 on aggregate, with the only goal of Tuesday's second leg on a historic and raucous night at the Etihad Stadium.

The result will put City in some elite company when the draw for the semi-finals is made on Friday but, while enjoying this achievement, De Bruyne insists there is more to come from the team.

The Belgium forward said: "I think it is huge

Everybody has talked about the Champions League and to be in the semi-finals is a great achievement.

"But it is not done yet

We are looking forward to the semis

It is only two games away from the final

We will try to do everything to reach the final."

City went into the game holding the slight advantage of two away goals after last week's 2-2 draw at the Parc des Princes.

But they showed no intention of sitting back and matched an attack-minded PSG by playing them at their own game.

They had a chance to take the lead after 30 minutes when Sergio Aguero was brought down for a penalty by goalkeeper Kevin Trapp but the Argentinian put the spot-kick wide.

Joe Hart made some fine saves to keep the score at 0-0, including two from Zlatan Ibrahimovic free-kicks, before De Bruyne broke the deadlock with a fine curling effort 14 minutes from time.

Hart saved again to deny Edinson Cavani and Ibrahimovic had another effort disallowed for offside as City held on.

De Bruyne said: "I think it was a very good performance and we deserved to go through

I think the whole team played a good game.

"It feels very good

It was a very important goal and after the 1-0 I think we controlled the game and thought we could score one more.

"We put a lot of pressure on PSG and even after the missed penalty we played well

PSG didn't create a lot of chances, so well done to the defenders."

De Bruyne delivered another high-energy performance and his goal was his third in four appearances since returning from a two-month lay-off with a knee injury.

The 24-year-old said: "I just tried to shoot in the corner and it just went in

You just have to try it and one day it will go in.

"I think I play my game at a high intensity

I felt afterwards the power was a little bit gone but I think that is normal with the injury that happened

I give it all until I can't go further."

De Bruyne also had praise for the supporters, who after being criticised over slow ticket sales, played a full part in what was a jubilant occasion

The sell-out crowd of 53,039 was a European record for the club.

De Bruyne, City's £54million record signing, said: "It is amazing to play in a stadium with so many fans cheering for you

I think it helps the team in every way."
