Jose Mourinho eyes move for Edin Dzeko from Manchester City

Last updated : 16 June 2011 By Daily Mail

Mourinho was frustrated in his attempts to sign the 25-year-old when he originally switched from Wolfsburg to Manchester in January, but has made the striker his top summer transfer priority.

Dzeko cost City ?27million and the Eastlands club would expect to at least break even on the deal which saw the striker make a modest return of two Premier League goals in 21 games.

The Bosnia international has another four years remaining on his contract and could be persuaded to remain under Roberto Mancini, particularly as he helped the club secure Champions League football next season.

But Mourinho will find it hard to persuade Mancini to part with one of his strikers, particularly with Carlos Tevez's future anything but certain.

The Argentinean has made no secret of the fact he wishes to return home to be with his wife and two daughters. He just hasn't stated when that will be.

Revolving door? Tevez and Adebayor have been on international duty in the close season, but will they both return for duty with City in August?

One player definitely heading in the other direction is Emmanuel Adebayor. The Togolese forward will not remain at the Bernabeu following his six-month loan spell with the Spanish giants.

Adebayor scored eight goals in 21 appearances for Los Blancos, including a brace against Tottenham in the Champions League quarter-final and a league hat-trick against Almeria.

Blackburn Rovers are leading the race to sign the wantaway forward. Steve Kean has been handed a ?30m transfer fund this summer and has made Adebayor his top target.?
