Harry Kane returned to Tottenham training for the first time since getting back from holiday on Tuesday morning.
Kane has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City and earlier in the summer he caused a stir by failing to report back to Spurs for pre-season. The forward was expected on 2 August but instead showed up five days later. Kane insists the delay was planned.
Since returning from a trip to the Bahamas the England captain has been staying at the club’s on-site hotel in isolation. He was not named in the squad that defeated City on Sunday, although he was reportedly watching on from the stands.
Those that did feature were afforded a day off on Monday with Kane doing training on his own. According to Sky Sports, he did return to the group on Tuesday morning, though. He would have likely received a mixed reaction from his teammates, who were left baffled by his failure to return to the club when expected.
Kane is in contention to feature in Spurs’ UEFA Conference League qualifier against Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday after being named in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad for the encounter. After that Spurs face a tricky trip to Wolves on Sunday.
Kane remains set on a move to City but 90min understands Tottenham’s position is unlikely to soften before the end of the transfer window. Spurs have already dismissed a £100m enquiry and Daniel Levy has insisted that his prized asset is not available at any price.
City are believed to be plotting a second bid in the region of £130m, although it would likely take at least £150m for Spurs to begin thinking about letting Kane go. If he does depart, Tottenham are lining up a move for Patrick Bamford to replace him, but he would not come cheap.
