Harry Kane left out of travelling squad for Tottenham Europa Conference League qualifier

Harry Kane will not travel with the Tottenham Hotspur squad to face Pacos de Ferreira in Thursday evening's Europa Conference League qualifier, but there are hopes the England striker will be fit to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

The 28-year-old was not selected for the opening game of the Premier League season, when his teammates defeated the forward's potential future club Manchester City in north London.

And Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic reports that Kane will not feature for Spurs again on Thursday, as the team travels to Portugal for the Europa Conference League qualifier first leg. However, his long-awaited return could come three days later.

The north Londoners return to domestic action at the weekend, where they will head to the midlands to face new coach Nuno Espirito Santo's former club, Wolves. Spurs could be lining up with their talisman back among their ranks, as he could be considered fit for selection for the first away day of the new campaign.

Whether he will actually be picked by Espirito Santo is another question, with the club still trying to convince the forward to prolong his stay at White Hart Lane. Kane has been very public in his demands to leave his boyhood club in search of trophies, and Man City are hoping to add the forward to their array of all-stars.

The club captain believes chairman Daniel Levy has gone back on a 'gentleman's agreement' that he could leave this summer after Spurs underperformed last season, with Levy said to have stopped taking calls from City representatives.

The Citizens have already splashed £100m on Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, and Kane is keen to join his England compatriot at the Etihad Stadium. The superstar also caused controversy by not reporting to training when expected, although he denied these claims in a statement on social media.

Kane's relationship with the club is strained, and it was no surprise when he was not selected for the opening day of the season against Man City. Spurs upset the reigning champions however, beating them 1-0, with chants of 'Are you watching Harry Kane?' ringing around their new stadium.
