David Silva will remain with Manchester City until the end of the season, with discussions taking place to extend his contract beyond its current 30 June expiry.
The issue surrounding contracts has been one of the more difficult to deal with across the footballing world, with the coronavirus outbreak and resulting halt in sporting activities meaning the standard summer expiry date for most players' contracts could see them leave their respective clubs before the season is concluded.
Clubs across the Premier League find themselves in a position where they may lose key players for the final run in - which is expected to go ahead as plans continue to be discussed to resume the 2019/20 season.
However, the likely outcome will be more straightforward, as contracts will simply be extended to the end of the season (whenever that may be). One player finding himself in such a position is Silva, who it was feared could leave City before the campaign is concluded.
The Times have allayed such fears, though, claiming that the Spaniard will pen fresh terms in order to see out his tenth and likely final season with the Citizens in it's entirety.
It's widely expected that Silva will embark on a fresh challenge upon the completion of his contract, with a possible move to the MLS with Inter Miami or a return to Spain being mooted.
Whatever his decision may be, City will be able to enjoy the 34-year-old's talents one last time, as they remain with ten Premier League matches left to play and with an FA Cup triumph in their sights.
Should the club claim another cup scalp this term, then it would bring Silva's City tally up to 12 trophies - which includes four Premier League titles.
