David Silva Helps Convince Ferran Torres to Make Man City Move

Exclusive - Valencia forward Ferran Torres is keen to join Manchester City because he wants to follow in the footsteps of idol David Silva.

Silva, who will walk away from the Etihad Stadium this summer, starred for Valencia between 2006 and 2010 before moving to Manchester, where he has gone on to make 434 appearances and win four Premier League titles.

Silva's exit, alongside Leroy Sané's long-awaited move to Bayern Munich, left City looking for some more creativity ahead of competing to regain their Premier League crown, and Torres has been identified as the man for the job.

A source has confirmed to 90min that City's negotiations with Torres were straightforward as the 20-year-old winger made no secret of his desire to emulate Silva and seal his own blockbuster move to the Etihad.

A deal worth an initial £20m has been agreed between City and Valencia, but the fee is expected to rise to closer to the £30m mark through various add-ons.

Silva has also helped smooth things over by agreeing a very club-friendly deal to re-join Valencia this summer. As exclusively revealed by 90min last week, Valencia are interested in bringing in both Silva and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer.

Pep Guardiola has also been keen on Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres, with City on the lookout for two new central defenders this summer after telling both Nicolás Otamendi and John Stones that they can leave the club.

City are also keen on Villarreal's Pau Torres

Their agreement over a deal for Bournemouth's Nathan Ake on Thursday may signal that they've opted to move for the Dutchman over Torres, though City do still want another centre back. Kalidou Koulibaly - a more experienced option - is also on their radar.

Pau Torres comes with a £45m release clause, which has also piqued the interest of Manchester United and Arsenal, but City have been tracking Torres all season.
