The pair started on the bench in the Boxing Day defeat at Wigan as Stuart Pearce opted for the same side that beat Birmingham 4-1.
But individual errors meant that move didn't quite pay off as City were beaten 4-3, so the Blues boss is set to return to his strongest XI with Cole and Dunney coming back in.
"After the game I looked into the eyes of one or two of the players and they know they owe me,'' said Pearce about the loss at Wigan.
"The beauty of it is they (the City players) are an honest bunch. They know in their own minds, without me shouting and hollering at them, their performances individually weren't good enough.
"We've players who know they've not played well, so I don't need to motivate
people because Chelsea are coming to town."
