Claudio Bravo Considering MLS Move to NYCFC When Man City Contract Ends

Manchester City's Claudio Bravo is considering a summer move to New York City FC after his contract expires in June.

The Chilean proved his value to the City this past weekend, with a phenomenal save from Bjorn Engels in the 88th minute to ensure that the Citizens won the Carabao Cup on Sunday.

A move to New York would keep Bravo within the City Football Group, and would give him the first-team football in MLS that he hasn't had at City in about three years.

The Guardian report that the US club have offered Bravo the contract and are waiting for his response. The backup goalkeeper hasn't enjoyed the most successful spell in Manchester since Pep Guardiola signed him to be his number one back in 2016 - a position he was relieved off after barely half a season.

Bravo committed an error that led to Manchester United scoring on his debut, setting the tone for his spell at the Etihad. Bravo dropped a free kick to allow Zlatan Ibrahimovic to pull a goal back in a 2-1 City win and received widespread criticism for the error.

His erratic play continued, at one point being beaten by six consecutive shots on target in two straight appearances for City - leading to his replacement by Willy Cabellero.

However, Bravo has always received the public backing of his manager and following his performance on Sunday, Guardiola waxed lyrical about his play.

“He was involved in a lot of titles. He’s one of the most incredible professionals I’ve ever seen. Other players can learn from him and accept his position. He’s an extraordinary person. He will have success whatever he does in life.

“He played against Liverpool in Community Shield and Carabao Cup. Many titles he was involved in. I never doubted his quality as a keeper.”

Manchester City are comfortable in moving on from Bravo as reports are suggesting that City's Zack Steffen is making strides during his loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf.
