City-Borussia Champions League clash falls victim to the weather - yes rain

Last updated : 13 September 2016 By DSG

Manchester City's Champions League group match at home to German side Borussia Monchengladbach has been postponed because of adverse weather.
It's incredible to think that whilst most of the country basked in sunshine on one of the hottest September days on record, a deluge in the North West should cause this game to be called off.
In Manchester, of all places! Who'd have thought it?
The line-ups for the game had been announced and the players were warming up when the heavens opened, rendering the Etihad pitch waterlogged.
Match officials will consult with the two clubs about when the game can be played - probably tomorrow

A decision has to be made within two hours of when the game was officially called off.
More on this breaking news to follow.
