The club have been attempting to attract investment in Russia and it has been reported that billionaire Vladimir Potanin is about to launch a £35m takeover this summer.

Potanin, who has made £1.6b from precious metals, shipping and telecommunications, already owns FC Moscow and has agreed an informal tie-up between the clubs after City recently entertained a delegation from the Russian club.

Their MD, Yuri Belous, is quoted as saying: "It was a very beneficial trip and I am grateful to my friends at City for being so helpful."
