The City rebel is due back at the club on Monday after going AWOL in Argentina last week. Tevez flew home to visit his family without permission from the club following the row over his infamous non-appearance at Bayern Munich.

Tevez will face a fresh disciplinary hearing on his return but it was suggested that Buenos Aires-based Boca could soon offer Tevez an escape route from the Etihad Stadium. However, club president Jorge Amor Ameal has dismissed the idea due to cost.

Welcome home: Carlos Tevez is due back at Manchester City on Monday

Tevez, 27, was a hero at La Bombonera during a three-year spell with Boca before he moved to the Barclays Premier League in 2004, and Ameal hailed the striker's standing at the club.?

But it is believed Tevez earns around ?200,000 per week at City and Ameal admitted that Boca simply cannot afford the Argentina star.

'Carlos is deservedly a very important figure here,' Ameal told local radio. 'But from the economic point it is impossible.

'I did talk to him, and I lent him our support.'

Empty space: Tevez went AWOL from City in Argentina last week

Boca's stance leaves Brazilian club Corinthians as Tevez's one hope of returning to play in South America. Italian giants AC and Inter Milan are also said to be interested.

City are expecting Tevez to report back on Monday, although it is uncertain he will return.

? The former Manchester United forward has not played for City since the infamous game at the Allianz Arena on September 27, after which Mancini claimed the player was 'finished' at the club.

As a result of the Munich transgression, Tevez was found guilty of five serious breaches of contract and was suspended for a fortnight, fined six weeks' wages (later reduced to two after intervention by the players' union) and ordered to train by himself and then with the reserves.?
