The City captain is nursing a hamstring injury and missed last weekend's semi-final success since he was in Milan having treatment.

While his chances are rated as 50/50 of making a comeback on May 14, the Argentine striker is hopeful he can lead Roberto Mancini's side to their first trophy in 35 years.

Comeback trail: Tevez is determined to return from a hamstring injury in time for the FA Cup final showdown with Stoke

'I have played in the cup for three teams and know what an important competition it is. In some countries the domestic cup is not important,'said Tevez.

'But because of the history and of what the FA Cup means to the supporters it carries more significance.

'It always has a special atmosphere because of that and I'm sure the game will be an amazing occasion.'

Tevez, 27, is confident City can treat their fans to enough memorable day in the capital and finally add silverware to their trophy cabinet after years without any success.

Derby delight: Tevez wants City to now go on and win the cup after beating rivals United in the semi-final

'We are playing well and we have a chance to achieve something big for Manchester City,' he said.

'For the club, owners and fans. As a player you want to play in the big occasions.

'I played at Wembley once for United against Everton in the semi-finals.We lost the penalty shoot-out so it's not a happy memory.

'United have been winning the games that we felt we could win - but we felt Saturday was an opportunity to beat them and dedicate an historic win to our supporters.'
