Benjamin Mendy pleads not guilty to nine counts of sexual offences

Benjamin Mendy has pleaded not guilty to nine counts of sexual offences ahead of the beginning of his trial on July 25.

The Manchester City defender has been charged with seven rapes and two further assaults against six women.

He was suspended by the club back in August 2021 'pending an investigation' when he was first taken into police custody. He was later released on bail in January 2022.

Mendy entered his not guilty plea at Chester Crown Court on Monday. He will stand trial with co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, who is accused of 10 offences which include seven rapes against five women.
