Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić has ruled out a January move for Manchester City winger Leroy Sané.
The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a switch to Bayern during the summer in what would have been one of the biggest deals of the window. However, Sané picked up a serious knee injury in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool in August which forced Bayern to pull out of negotiations.
There had been talk of a potential January move for Sané, but Christian Falk has confirmed that Bayern are not interested in bringing the German in during the current transfer window.
There is no official reason given as to why Bayern have declined to push for Sané again, but the fact that he is still yet to return from his knee injury will almost certainly have been the deciding factor for Salihamidžić.
City boss Pep Guardiola recently confirmed that Sané is likely to return to first-team training in 'a few weeks', but that will likely come too late for Bayern, who do not want to spend so heavily on a player without seeing how he has recovered from such a serious injury.
As 90min reported back in November, Sané has his heart set on a move to Bayern once he eventually recovers from his injury, while City would be prepared to sell if they receive a satisfactory offer.
They were looking for anywhere between £80m and £100m at the time, but that asking price has dropped as a result of the injury and the fact that Sané will enter the final year of his contract in the summer.
City are still ready to activate Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal's release clause - thought to be around £68m - if Sané does indeed leave, as they prepare for a big summer spending spree to help fire them back into the Premier League title picture next season.
City have fallen 14 points behind Liverpool in the league table, and the Reds also have a game in hand, so club officials want players like Oyarzabal to help them re-establish their dominance in England.
