Bayern Munich Agree Deal With Manchester City for Leroy Sané

Bayern Munich have agreed a deal with Manchester City for winger Leroy Sané, with the German international expected to complete a move worth up to €60m in the next 24 hours.

Sane was destined to make the switch to Bavaria last summer after being underused by Pep Guardiola in Manchester City's title-winning 2018/19 campaign, but the ACL tear he sustained in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool last August thwarted the move.

Bayern and City have continued to discuss a transfer, however, and with Sane eager to depart with just a year remaining on his contract, the Cityzens were forced to entertain offers for the winger or risk losing him for free at the end of next season.

Now, after months of negotiations, a deal is agreed by the two clubs - news that was first broken by reliable Bild journalist Christian Falk. His tweet has subsequently been followed up by multiple confirmations of an agreement, with most suggesting that €49m will be paid up front to City - with with €11m in add-ons.

Sane will sign a contract with Bayern through to 2025, bringing an end to a four-year spell in the north west of England. He won't, however, become Die Roten's highest earner, with COVID-19's impact on footballing finances again rearing its head.

He will be handsomely paid in Munich, though, ending a year-long pursuit that 90min first reported in July 2019.

Sane has played his last game for City - a cameo appearance as a substitute in the recent 5-0 win over Burnley - and departs having played 90 Premier League games. In that time, he scored 25 goals and quickly developed a reputation as one of the most dangerous wingers in English football.

Bayern's Bundesliga season is already over and Sane won't be eligible to participate in the Champions League mini-tournament, being held in Lisbon during mid-August.
