City lie in fourth spot after four games and although it is still early in the season, the team are confident they can maintain their form.

"I think we are in a good position in the league and for me we are playing better and better. There is a real sense of unity and spirit about the team. I think it is possible to see that we are all happy to play for one another.

"We want to be in the Champions League next season and the only way to do that is work as a team," the French striker added. "I think we are good enough to finish in the top places if we continue as we are away and find some consistency at home."

The former Real Madrid man also sounded his approval of Keegan's latest additions to the squad.

"The manager has brought in quality players in the summer and I am sure we will all enjoy playing alongisde Steve McManaman and Claudio Reyna, as we have the other signings he made.

"I am sure the fans will enjoy watching them too. I played with Steve in Madrid and I know what a good player he is.

"I have also enjoyed the lone role up front with Antoine Sibierski. He is a clever player who can play in front of me or behind. I think we played well like that against Blackburn and Arsenal."
