Aguero and de Bruyne on Ballon d'Or shortlist

The 30-man shortlist for the 2017 Ballon d'Or has been released, with Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne in with a chance of claiming football's most prestigious award. 

The shortlist was released yesterday and contains eight players from the Premier League, including Leicester City's title winning duo of Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy as well as two from neighbours Manchester United, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.

With Fifa and France Football ending there partnership which spanned 5 years between 2010 and 2015. Meaning that this year's award will be voted for solely by a panel of journalists.

The City duo will be hopeful of breaking Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi's 7 year dominance when the winner is announced in January.
