City look for Cottage comforts

IT'S a measure of how far we have come that we can look forward to three points and an ascent to second place in the Premiership as late in the season as November.

It sometimes happens in August when the league is still in its embroynic stages but not when the clocks have gone back!

And, here's hoping that it's former Fulham striker Andrew Cole who can fire us to that win - just as his strike partner Darius Vassell did against his former club on Monday night.

David Sommeil was injured on Monday but every cloud has a silver lining and Richard Dunne should return from injury after he came through 45 minutes for the reserves in midweek.

Nedum Onouha and Claudio Reyna are sidelined but Ben Thatcher, Robbie Fowler and Trevor Sinclair could be fit for the bench.

City target Steed Malbranque is set to line-up against Psycho's men for the first time since we had a £5m bid rejected for him. Hopefully, a clinical display by the Blues at the Cottage can persuade him that we are going places under Pearce.

Meanwhile, Pearce's counterpart Coleman has told the Eastlands boss to enjoy his current success.

Coleman said: ""Stuart Pearce has done a good job - it's a similar situation to when I started coaching. The first year is going well for him and my advice would be to enjoy it.

"Every season that goes by you get more experience but it never gets any easier. He's done a good job and the players have responded to him.

"It's still early days yet. We're just 11 games in and there are a lot of points still to play for. Christmas will be an important spell for him because you can push on from there.

"Pearcey will be thinking top eight at the moment and if City can stay there, they'll be in with a shout of the top six. I'd imagine that's his goal."

In our last five visits to West London, we have drawn three and won one so it's been a happy hunting ground for us.

Let's hope that City take advantage of any Cottage hospitalities on the pitch and end Saturday on the shoulder of Chelsea in second.

Then, we might have the dilemma of wanting Mourinho's men to get beaten at Old Trafford on Sunday to help our title chances.

Sod that...come on Chelsea!!
